Adopting Innovative Methods to Educate Clinical Staff in a Virtual World (Sponsored by Exsurco Medical)Register nowPresenters:
Amber McAfeeMatt FrenchObjective:
Provide 45-minute presentation highlighting new virtual formats of training clinical staff when face-to-face training opportunities are limited, and educators are even more restricted to access the operating rooms and burn units.
Purpose:
Representatives from medical device companies are becoming increasingly restricted from reaching clinicians in the operative or other invasive procedure setting whether due to the pandemic, hospital policy, or credentialing service exclusions. Even though AORN states in their position statement that by virtue of their education, knowledge, and expertise, health care industry representatives have a valid role in the perioperative settings1. Medical device manufacturers must find new ways to provide essential education and technical training to clinical users.Method: A new mobile app-based platform to reach the perioperative team is in development for wound debridement and skin grafting with the Amalgatome® SD device by Exsurco Medical (Wakeman, OH). The objectives of the training app are to expand upon traditional learning; increase knowledge retention; facilitate the natural process of memory formation; and provide critical information at the point of need. The mobile app content includes the user guide; how-to-videos; troubleshooting; frequently asked questions which will improve the quality and value of training.References: 1AORN Position Statement on the Role of the Health Care Industry Representative in Perioperative Settings - 2020 - AORN Journal - Wiley Online LibrarySponsored by:
